How do you have time to blog??

I am chronically complaining that I have no time. Clearly the truth is I have 24 hours in a day just like everyone else, I just need to learn to manipulate my schedule a lil better.

My current Schedule includes:

* Massachusetts General Hospital ~ 20 hours/ week
* Boston University Teaching Assistant ~ 20 hours/ week
* St. Elizabeth's Per Diem ~20-40 hours/ week
* Caritas Carney Hospital 5 hrs/ week (plus annoyingly long commute)

* Class Not as much time as I should be spending on it!

I have also learned that all work and no play really does make Johnny (erm, Jamie) a dull girl. During my undergrad I started off as Pre-med... lets just say "pre-med weed out classes" have their purpose, and I was definitely weeded out. Consequently my GPA was pretty abysmal Freshman year, and every year after that was basically struggling to bring it up. I unfortunately focused so much on school work and not enough on the rest of life.

I am back to trying to create a balance between school, work, playtime, me time, and the ever-important sleep that I frequently neglect.

Usually when I get busy things get eliminated in this order:
1. Working out
2. Sleep
3. Going Out
4. Showering
5. work/school work
6. Eating....
I somehow always make time for eating, whenever I am really busy or struggling financially my parents always ask if I am eating ok, I inform them that is one of my top priorities and it tends not to get cut out... I can do without a lot but we all have out little luxuries. I may not cook persay, but I'll take the time to eat something.

I've also come to realize- I can't do work ALL the time, no matter how I try. I always feel guilty if I am not at least attempting to do something productive. At any given time I can usually be found with something I need to do (for instance, last Friday I went out with my Labs quizzes to grade in case I had time on the train... )

But really - somethings require more mental energy than is available in a short period of time such as on your commute or when I want to multitask at work during my lunch break...

I have started taking the Metro when I go on the T, because that tiny bit of news may be just as valuable as that one paper I wind up half-heartedly grading, and when I have a spare 5 minutes at work, or before bed, I write blogs rather than logging onto Blackboard and trying to work on a homework assignment that I really need to just sit down and do when I have an hour to dedicate to it.

Life is all about balance. And I am working to reprioritize and reorganize myself. So, despite my "lack of time", I hope to continue to take a little bit of time out of my day for myself, such as through blogging, and making time for friends and family <3

I Will Not

I Will not binge eat today.

Goal of the day.

I have so much to do, and I am really trying to get it done today. Strike that: I will get it done today.

Today's To Do List:

Shower
Laundry
Clean Room

Put Grades in Grade book
Write Quiz
Write thank you note for internship
Bake Thank you treat for internship

Send internship evaluation in to advisor

Find Planner

Organize Wallet

Call 21st ammendment
(I managed to lose my wallet when drunk the other day hence the last two)
Buy stamps (had a book, it had been in wallet.)
Buy Lactaid (see above)
Move Bike
Figure out why power point assignment not working.
Lab 6:30-8:30

*Those in red have been successfully completed thus far.

I am too busy to binge eat. Although I did already manage to eat a pound of rice today.... but -there is no sense claiming defeat. I have a bad habit of once I start to screw up I just say screw it and completely give up. I cannot do that today.

Clean room!! (more or less)

And I'm off to finish my list-- and not binge eat in the process.
Wish me luck!

Now go get things done!

Blog slacking and Emotional Eating

So, for the past month I have been an incredible Blogging slacker,

It started off with being too busy, with finals and papers etc.

Then came the rejection from all of the dietetic internships I applied to, and alas, I have felt a bit of disconnect from the world of dietetics and nutrition. Deep down I know I still love it, but its hard to keep the same zeal about something when you feel that it doesn’t feel the same way about you.

Today is officially my graduation, I however, am stuck at work. I tried to get the day off, but my boss insisted I must be here. Today I have one patient. Clearly, it was very necessary for me to be here today.

This past weekend has been rather lonely and depressing. Since it is graduation weekend most of my friends have their families here and they are off doing family oriented/ touristy things, such as last night was a Boston Pops performance. Since I did not go to graduation, and the fact that my parents have never come to visit me, I did not do these activities, and since all of my friends were off doing such activities, I caught up on my season finales.

I have also reached the conclusion that I am definitely an emotional eater. Yesterday I worked from 7 am til 7 pm. Since I could not find anything to do for the evening, I decided to walk home from work. I arrived to my abode around 9 pm, to discover my roommate had moved out.
I knew she was leaving, however, I was unsure of the exact date, and in my state of loneliness, this was a sad moment.

I proceeded to eat ½ a pound of peanut butter M&Ms.

One of the reasons I started blogging was to avoid such binge eating- since if I take pictures of things and post them, I would feel much more guilty about this.
I, as aforementioned, have become a blogging slacker.

I need to get back on track.

I love food, and healthy eating. Those M&Ms- not even that tasty- and after ½ a pound, can’t imagine eating and M&M for a very long time,… so I hope to be back in the blogging atmosphere.

And if anyone happens to know of someone looking for a room or two to sublet , holla at me!

Friday

So I confessed to Annabelle that my blog is partially my therapy for my binge eating problem.
Here was the Friday Rundown:

Apple for breakfast:

Light and Fit Yogurt with TJs high fiber cereal

3 cups of salad including spinach, romaine, grapes, roasted vegetables, some snobby joe mix.

A very old Target Brand Chocolate Chip granola bar that has probably been sitting in my locker at work for about a year:

A couple Cups o

I stopped at Harvest Co-op after work and had a little snacky on the bus ride home of pumpkin seeds and a couple hand fulls of raisins.

And dinner was a hodgepodge of spinach, snobby joe mix, roasted vegetables, chickpeas, and baby bella mushrooms. Then I threw some romaine lettuce on top and mixed all together

And finally a couple pieces of Pumpkin bread (Recipe to follow), with peanut butter, and butterscotch chips.
